Central Studio on Pershing offers adult dance classes for all fitness levels & dance backgrounds. From Ballet to Hip Hop we have a little of everything, conveniently located in the heart of St. Louis just across the street from Forest Park.

Ballet 101 Workshops every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.

Ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop cardio, and dance fitness classes for beginner and advanced dancers.

DANCE CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED AT CENTRAL STUDIO

Ballet Classes: levels 1 , 2 & Pointe

Virtual & In-Studio | Pershing

Level 1: Total body exercise for anyone with feet! Adult Ballet 1 will improve students' flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination by introducing beginner-level ballet technique and vocabulary. Fulfill your childhood dream of becoming a graceful ballerina/ballerino with our skilled instructors and, as a bonus, leave with a sense of artistic accomplishment!

Level 2: Students will refine their ballet technique and expand their vocabulary in the intermediate-level setting of Adult Ballet 2. Classical ballet technique focuses on flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination as well as artistry, musicality, and memory. Our skilled instructors strive to holistically empower and energize students through the art of ballet.

What to wear: Exercise attire or dance leotard/tights, socks or ballet shoes

Tap Dance Classes: levels 1 & 2

Virtual & In-Studio | Pershing

Level 1: We've got rhythm! We've got music! Adult Tap 1 introduces basic tap dance steps to help students improve their coordination, balance, and rhythmic understanding. Class format includes a warm-up, skill training, traveling tap progressions, and dance combination to put all the pieces together!

Level 2: Adult Tap 2 challenges intermediate-level students to refine their technique, skills, and rhythm for more intricate tap dancing. Class format includes a warm-up, skill training, traveling tap progressions, and dance combination to put all the pieces together!

What to wear: Comfortable clothing and tap shoes (we have a limited supply of shoes to borrow)

Private 30-minute or hour-long classes available.

 

Contemporary Dance Class

Thursdays at 6:30pm

Emotionally-expressive, technique-driven, and athletically-inclined, this dance form will push dancers to the next level of artistry. Through the use of technique exercises and combinations, dancers will enhance their musicality, coordination, flexibility/strength, and technique. Pairing with ballet is highly recommended.
What to wear: Comfortable athletic wear or leotard and tights. We recommend socks or jazz shoes for footwear. Hair must be pulled back.

Move for Health

Virtual Dance Class

Experience the health benefits and rediscover the joy of movement in a class specially designed for older adults. This class focuses on core strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, breath control, and stress relief.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing and bare feet

Ballet 101 Workshops

A focused hour of introductory ballet instruction for beginners and those new to dance classes. In Ballet 101, you’ll learn to develop the coordination, dance vocabulary, and confidence needed to advance to other ballet classes we offer (Ballet 1 and 2). 

Ballet 101 begins with a warm-up at the barre where basic ballet terms are introduced and finishes with dance instructions in the center of our dance studio to practice balance and ballet techniques.

What to wear: Athleticwear or dance leotard/tights, socks, ballet shoes.
