General Studio

I am new to dance, how do I know which class level is right for me?

Level 1 classes are for complete beginners and those with a couple years of experience. The pace is usually slower to help students gain familiarity with dance vocabulary and build strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Level 2 classes are our intermediate option. We recommend taking a level 2 class if you’ve danced for a few years or used to dance a lot when you were younger (high school, college, etc).

Students are always welcome to try a few different classes or levels until they find the one that’s right for them. If you’re feeling concerned about the level please communicate with your teacher before class so they can help give you the best experience possible.

Should I sign up for one class or buy a class card?

Whichever option is best for you! Clients who purchase class cards receive a slight discount for their advance commitment. Class cards expire one year from the purchase date.

Can I drop in to classes that have already started or do I need to wait for the next enrollment?

Our adult classes are always open for drop-ins and newcomers. Instructors will meet you where you are at and work to improve your skills regardless of when you begin.

Class schedules may have minor changes from season to season, but we do not require adult students to register for a full season.

Is it better to purchase classes online or in person?

We recommend purchasing classes online so that you can fill out registration paperwork in advance and guarantee your spot in class. This is also the best place to stay informed about class changes and studio breaks.

Coming to the studio is a viable option if you’d like more information before you register. Please be sure to come 10 minutes early so you have time to fill out the paperwork.

Where can I buy reasonably priced shoes and other dance wear?

We recommend shopping locally at St. Louis Dancewear or Head to Toe Dancewear. Attire can also be found online at Capezio, Dancewear Solutions and Amazon among others.

Do you offer virtual class options?

Yes! Almost all of our classes have a virtual or hybrid options. Feel free to enjoy class from the comfort of your home :)

Central Studio Academy

What is Central Studio Academy? Is this new?

Same awesome dance classes, shiny new programming! We’ve been working hard for the past couple years to fully implement our vision for Central Studio’s youth dance classes. The Central Studio Academy (or CSA) is our comprehensive youth program that includes movement, dance, tumbling, productions, summer camps and more. Click here to see the full “road map” of the CS Academy and how we aim to help our dancers grow and learn from preschool to high school.

I have multiple children who are interested in joining the CS Academy. Is there a discount for siblings?

Yes! Siblings in the Academy do receive a discount because they are charged together for weekly classes. (For example, siblings taking 1 class/week would be charged together for the 2 classes/week price ($120/month) instead of separately for 1 class/week each ($65/month x 2 = $130/month).

I missed the beginning of the semester. Can I still sign my child up for classes?

We would love to have your child join the CS Academy even if they’ve missed the beginning of the school year! Depending on when your dancer enrolls some classes may be full, but we would love to help you find the best CSA class to fit your family’s needs and get your dancer moving! Please reach out to us to get started.

What is the $35 Annual Enrollment Fee?

This is an annual fee that applies to the Academy school year from September - June. It helps us continue to provide the best resources possible for the growth of your dancer and assists with consistent administrative support for all CS Academy families.

What are your tuition and cancellation policies?

Central Studio collects tuition monthly through automatic withdrawal, from a debit or credit card, on the 1st of the month (unless balance is paid in advance). If you would like to cancel enrollment for your dancer, please notify us by the 20th of the month prior to your desired cancellation month for our administrative staff to execute cancellation at the appropriate time.

What are the CS Academy make-up policies?

We do not prorate or refund for absences, but we do offer make-ups. Families must reach out to the Academy Director or Studio Manager to find a suitable make-up class. Make-up classes must be taken before the end of the Academy School Year and will not roll over into the next school year.
